Monroe

Anatoly Alexander Korniyenko, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 20, 2025, in Monroe, NC, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 6, 1942, in Dzhambul, Kazakhstan, and lived a life rich with experiences, love, and a profound dedication to his family and faith.

Anatoly was an exceptionally intelligent and kind-hearted man, known for his welcoming nature and his ability to make everyone feel at ease. His sharp wit and great sense of humor brightened the lives of those who knew him. He held a Master's degree in chemical engineering, which served him well throughout his extensive career. In Kazakhstan, he worked diligently as an engineer in a leather processing factory and simultaneously nurtured his passion for beekeeping. After moving to Tuapse, Russia he worked as a granite stone cutting technician and later worked producing parts for a cabinet-making business. Later, he made the journey to the United States, where he continued to contribute his skills as a waste treatment plant operator at Poly Metal Finishing Corporation in Springfield, MA, until his retirement.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Anatoly's life was a testament to his deep-rooted faith and unwavering devotion to God. He served as a deacon in Kazakhstan, a pastor in Tuapse, Russia, and a minister in Agawam, MA. He was deeply committed to mission work, generously supporting missionaries throughout his life, a dedication that continued well into his later years.  His commitment to teaching Bible studies in church illuminated the lives of many, embodying what it truly means to be a Christian. He was often seen praying on his knees, gentle in spirit and actions, and consistently supportive of his wife, Vera. His easy-going demeanor provided a nurturing environment for his children.

Anatoly's interests painted a portrait of a man deeply connected to nature and family. He loved immersing himself in outdoor activities, from fishing, mushroom picking, hiking in the mountains with his children, and tending to his cherished orchard where he experimented with grafting fruit trees. His adventurous spirit extended to riding his motorcycle with a sidecar, relishing journeys that created lasting memories with loved ones. He had a profound appreciation for nature’s bounty, delighting in picking chestnuts in the Caucasus mountains and savoring the simple pleasures of fresh fruit and cheese. In addition, he was a proud chess player enjoying countless hours of playing chess with friends and family and even AI.

His remarkable memory served as a treasure trove of stories, showcasing not only his intellect but also his love for learning and exploration—lush gardens of knowledge filled his beloved library covering multiple genres and topics. He was adept in geography and possessed a keen familiarity with the names of trees and plants, a testament to his appreciation and reverence for the world around him.

Anatoly leaves behind a legacy interwoven with love and laughter, a guiding light for his children, 17 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his teachings in their hearts. He is survived by his devoted wife, Vera, and his children, Galina, Alexander, Tatyana, Igor, Marina, and Andrey, alongside one niece and five nephews. He was predeceased by both parents, a brother, four sisters, and numerous relatives and friends.

As we gather to remember Anatoly, we celebrate a life well-lived, a man whose warmth and gentleness made a significant impact on all who had the honor of knowing him. His legacy of love, faith, and unwavering kindness will continue to resonate within the hearts of his family and community.
