Ann Elizabeth Bacon

January 17, 1934 — January 9, 2012

Ann Elizabeth Bacon, 77, of Belmont, North Carolina, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday evening, January 9, 2012. Ann was born January 17, 1934, in Worcester, Massachusetts, January 17, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Everett Waldo Shaw and Edna Mae Blair Shaw. Following high school, Ann was employed by the Paul Revere Insurance Company, in Worcester. In February, 1955, she met her future husband of 57 years, James Robert Bacon, at a USO dance. In June of that year they were married. Jim was in the Army at that time, and after being transferred overseas to Germany, Ann moved there to be with him. In 1958, Jim was transferred back to the States, moving his new family to his home in Hannibal, New York. Ann remained a housewife and mother and, while raising their four children, mentored other women in how to become Godly examples for their families. She enjoyed sewing, cooking, traveling, and also had a natural talent for drawing and painting. Ann had a gentle spirit, a true servant's heart, always putting others first. Being a Godly woman, she led by example. She was faithful, not only in her personal time with her Lord, but was active within her church as long as her health allowed. Ann's immediate family, in addition to her loving and devoted husband, Jim, includes her children, Kevin J. Bacon and his wife, Janna, Velda A. Gillen and her husband, Michael, June E. Lizotte and her husband, Mark, and Alisa A. Frye and her husband, Scott; her brother, Richard Shaw; her sister, Linda Shylberg; grandchildren, Corrie Owen, Stephanie Shuford, Nadine Gillen, Lindsay Metzelaars, Audrey Bacon, Michael Gillen, Joseph Gillen, Jamin Lizotte, Jack Frye, and Rachel Frye; seven great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
