Audrey Elizabeth Knight

Audrey Elizabeth Knight, 90, of Matthews, North Carolina, ended her battle with cancer Saturday evening, August 6, 2011. She was born December 20, 1920, in Roebuck, South Carolina, and was the daughter of the late Sam Brewington and Fannie Harvey Brewington. During World War II, she served as an aircraft mechanic in the United States Women's Army Air Force (WAC). "Miss Audrey" loved the outdoors, including hiking, gardening, and horses. She was a very independent, strong, and determined woman, along with being a loving and devoted mother, "grandma" and great "grandma". Ms. Knight is survived by her children, Carol Knight of Matthews, North Carolina, Mary West of Blacksburg, South Carolina, Kenneth Knight and his wife, Debbie, of Monroe, North Carolina, and Martha Greene and her husband, Joel, of Clover, South Carolina; seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers for Ms. Knight's service, the family has requested that floral arrangements be donated to an individual in a local nursing home or care center of choice. -
