"To Die is not to leave behind those who you Love, but to live in their hearts forever" On the night of March 28th, 2017. Three days after her 80th birthday our Precious Mother, went to be with her Lord. For we know she is rejoicing in Heaven and that is what gives us peace and comfort. Preceded in death; Parents, Oscar Lee Goodwin, Ruth Elizabeth Goodwin , and Grandson Steve Ingram. Survived by sister; Betty Jean Foy, of Rock Hill SC, 3 Children; Bill Wallace, wife Debbie of Kingsland Ga., Karen Smithey, husband Dale of Belmont NC and Randy Posey, wife Kathryn of Norwood NC. Grandchildren; Barbara, Brian, Mitchell, Samantha and 8 Great Grandchildren along with 3 extended Family Grandchildren; Valerie, C.J. and Angela. Born and raised in Gaston county alongside her sister Betty Jean, our Mother later moved to Charlotte to begin her business career and to raise her family. She always had her priorities in order with God, Family, and Career. She was a great provider, we never went without. She never met a stranger. Always focusing on the positive. In a world full of computers and flat screen TV's, her hobbies were simple but fulfilling, Her passion for crafts, flowers, gardening, baking, the list goes on. This fed her passion for giving. She would sit and crochet someone a beautiful afghan, scarf or bake you a loaf of homemade sourdough bread. You could bet on homemade Christmas ornaments every year. Her pound cakes could not be duplicated (we have all tried). She loved to pick pecans as they fell and shared with everyone. If you were unexpected at her home for Christmas, she had a gift just for you! Mom had a great love of fishing and would test your patience. At 80, she loved to shop, exhausting everyone with her. Our Mother was very dedicated to and loved greatly her Family, Church, Neighbors, Coworkers and Extended family. Service Extra Info A service in celebration of Barbara's life will be held at Central Church 5301 Sardis Rd. Charlotte NC in Weatherby Hall on Saturday May 13th. Pastor Greg Baker will be officiating.
