Betty Jo Funderburk went home to be with the Lord on Monday, May 30th at 9:25pm surrounded by her loving family.
She was a loving, caring mother and a pastor’s wife, full of compassion for her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and all that loving knew her as “Momma Jo.” She always had a smile on her face that was extremely contagious.
Momma Jo loved playing games, watching her favorite teams, the NC Tarheels and Atlanta Braves, play all the while saying the games were fixed. Lol! She also loved to watch her favorite game show, Family Feud. Some of her favorite times were when her house would be filled to the brim with family all around her. It never failed that when departing to go our separate ways, we were singing her favorite songs together.
Momma Jo was a praying, God-fearing woman who was blessed to live 90 years, just 9 days shy of her 91st birthday. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Monroe, NC. Oh, how she loved going to church. She is now in heaven with the Lord but her prayer here on earth was that she would be reunited someday with all of her family. Thank God for His Mercy and Goodness!
Betty Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Funderburk. She is survived by her four children. Vickie (Ronnie) Burgess of Indian Trail, NC, Danny (Shelley) Funderburk of Waxhaw, NC, Cathy (Rod) Price of Indian Trail, NC and Steve (Pam) Funderburk of Marshville, NC. Also surviving her are 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors for a viewing on Saturday, June 4th at Grace Baptist Church, 3411 Weddington Road, Monroe, NC beginning at 11:00am. A funeral service will follow at 12:30pm with graveside services immediately following at Lakeland Memorial Park. All are invited to attend.
