Beverly “Bev” Jo (Robbins) Naumann of Matthews, North Carolina passed away on June 24,
2024. She was born on September 24, 1948 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Joe Lee and Matilda
”Tillie” (Knuckles) Robbins.
Bev grew up in Trenton, Michigan. She went to Trenton High School, where she was a
cheerleader and runner up homecoming queen her senior year. She went to Michigan State
University, where she met Jim Naumann. They fell in love and married in June 1968 at the end
of their sophomore year. They just celebrated their 56 th wedding anniversary. After college,
they moved to the Detroit area where Jim started his banking career while she began her
career as a mother and homemaker. Son, Tom, was born in 1970 and daughter, Chrisy, was
born in 1972. The family moved to Charlotte, NC in 1981 when Jim went to work for NCNB
(now Bank of America). Son, Tim, (our caboose and special gift from God) came along in 1986.
The family moved to Washington, DC in 1991 when Jim was transferred, and then was
transferred back to Charlotte in 1994.
Bev’s life was focused primarily on family and her relationship with Jesus Christ. Her children
and grandchildren (Madison, Tucker, Courtney, Tanner, and Tatum) were everything to her. We
all have such special memories of our family times and trips together. Bev accepted Christ as
her Savior at an early age and her faith and commitment to Jesus was so important to her. The
churches that meant the most to her over the years were Ward United Presbyterian Church in
Livonia, Michigan, Carmel Baptist Church in Charlotte, and her current church, Sardis
Presbyterian Church in Charlotte. Through the years she had a passion for service and ministry.
She taught Sunday School, led Bible studies and served in many different leadership capacities.
One of her passions was teaching young women and moms about their faith and relationship
with Jesus Christ. She was an elementary school education and music major in college and
loved music. She also played the piano and taught piano for many years.
Bev was preceded in death by her mother and father, Tillie and Joe Robbins, and brother
Ronald Robbins. She leaves behind her loving husband James E. Naumann, son Thomas E.
Naumann and wife Angie, daughter Christina M. Hatcher and husband Randy, son Timothy J.
