Bill Anderson

William "Bill" Myron Anderson was born in Niagara Falls, NY, on February 29th, 1936 to William Fredrick Anderson and Mary Matthews Anderson. He was raised in Niagara Falls, NY, and graduated from DeBeaux School in 1954. Bill enlisted with the Marine Corps and served his country for six years. "HOOAH!" He later served in both the Marine and Army Reserves. While on furlough from the Marines, he met the love of his life, Carolyn, at Myrtle Beach. They later married and after his military service, moved to Carolyn's home town of Charlotte, NC, where they raised their three children. Bill found many joys in life including train and plane modeling, wood-working, hiking, and canoeing. He was also an avid reader of war history and theology. He had an entrepreneurial spirit, and brought a creative passion to anything he pursued. Included in his ventures were opening a used book store, raising parakeets, making toys for his grandchildren and building his own canoe from scratch. He was known for his kind heart and gentle ways. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Carolyn Todd Anderson, and his great granddaughter, Savannah Grace Sinclair. He is survived by his children Keith Anderson and wife, Susan of Mint Hill; Pam Sinclair and husband, Stan of Clover; Marc Anderson and wife, Terri of Charlotte; grandchildren Brian Anderson and wife, Leigh; Michael Anderson and wife, Molly; David Anderson and wife, Lauren; Eric Sinclair and wife, Ashley; Megan Sinclair, Nathan Sinclair, and Ashlynn Anderson; great grandchildren Ellie Anderson, Jake Anderson, Liam Anderson, Penelope Sinclair, and Ford Sinclair; and sister Carol McGrath and husband, Jerry. Bill was a member of Plaza Baptist Church and he retired from Kennametal. *Memorials in Bill's honor may be made to Sharon Forest Baptist Church, 11020 E. WT Harris Blvd. Charlotte, NC 28212. - -
