Billy Macamey Shaffer

Billy “Shine” Macamey Shaffer, 77 of Mint Hill, NC went to be with the Lord early Friday morning, April 24, 2020.  He was born on August 17, 1942 in Mint Hill, NC.  Billy retired from Embree Reed after 35 years of service.  He is known for his passion and love for working in his garden and the outdoors, along with his pets. Billy enjoyed watching Nascar Racing.  He always loved going on the family beach trip where he enjoyed going deep sea fishing. 

Billy is survived by his two daughters, Lori Shaffer of Mint Hill, NC; Norma Portas and her husband, Kevin of Matthews, NC; and son, Jeff Matthew of Salisbury, NC. 

His grandchildren; Seth Portas, of Matthews, NC; Krista Portas and her Fiancé, Patrick McDonald of Matthews, NC; Logan Walker of Salisbury, NC; Shaun Michael Pace of Salisbury, NC; Nikki Raymu of Salisbury, NC along with seven Great-grandchildren. 

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Lena Shaffer of Mint Hill, NC; His loving wife Lauraine Sharpe Shaffer of Mint Hill, NC. His two daughters, Donna Burelson of Salisbury, NC and Sandra Walker of Salisbury, NC.  His beloved brother, Ralph Shaffer of Mint Hill, NC. 

Due to the restrictions, a small family service will be held at Gaskin Funeral Services on Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 10:00am, following a Graveside service at Sunset Memory Gardens, Mint Hill, NC.  

The family will have a Memorial Service at a later date for more family and friends.
