On April 4, 2017, Blanche Roberta Jones Withers went to be with the Lord Jesus. She was the daughter of the late Susie Gentry Jones and Robert Jones. After growing up outside of Danville, Virginia, she moved to Charlotte where she met her husband for 57 years, the late William Troy Withers. Blanche worked as a nurse at Mercy Hospital, Carolinas Medical Center, and as a geriatric private duty nurse until she retired. She looked to Jesus as her Savior and was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Mint Hill. Her passion was to always be doing something for someone or something - her husband, her grandchildren, those in her neighborhood, animals, and the abundance of flowers in her garden. She looked for and loved to see beauty in the world. She spread joy wherever she went with her kindness and stoic sense of humor. She used faith, forgiveness, laughter, and self-control to turn adversity in her life into a blessing not only for herself but also into lessons she shared with others. Surviving her are four children, Linda Ann Meckes, William Franklin Withers (Patsy), Elizabeth Jane McLamb (Carl), and Charles Mark Withers (Amy Tooke); five grandchildren, Christina Moses (Edward), Carl McLamb, Jr., Ashton Withers, Mallory Withers, and Bailey Withers; and one great-grandchild, Trent Thompson. -
