Aaron Buford Haynes, age 92, of Monroe, NC, passed away peacefully the evening of Dec. 22nd, 2015, surrounded by family and close friends. He was born Nov. 20th, 1923 to William Albertus Haynes and Cora Query Haynes of Rock Hill, SC; the 10th of 11 children. Buford received a High School education in Rock Hill, SC and went on to attend Hall-Scott Diesel Engine School in Berkeley, CA and training at the University of Missouri. During WWII, he served in the US Navy as a motor machinist mate on the USS Ebert. Thereafter, he worked as an industrial painter at Celanese and Bowater - Catawba, SC, retiring at age 62. During these years he also developed a deep love of the Bible and upon retiring began to serve as a full time volunteer. Teaching others what he had learned was something he loved to do. He was widely known and loved by many in the community. He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Annie Medlin Haynes, along with their 2 children, Rebecca Ann Buckett and Aaron Bert Haynes; his sister, Bernice Hawkins, many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. -
