Celina Fortuna Gomez

Mrs. Celina S. Gomez, 86 of Charlotte, daughter of the late Constantino & Placeres Suarez, of Cuba, went to be with our Lord on May 20, 2011 peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 7, 1925 in Havana, Cuba. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and caring aunt. She was always devoted to her family and friends. In 1969 she journeyed from Cuba with her 3 children and made her home in Charlotte, NC. Full of energy & wisdom she worked hard & raised her children, watched them grow & create families of their own, helping willingly to care for her grandchildren, sharing with them all the traditions, culture, & language of her beloved native land Cuba. She was the last of her siblings to survive & is survived by her son Amado Gomez, his wife Ruth, granddaughter Sonia Gomez, her soon to be son in law Walter Solis, their children/her great-grandchildren Isabella, Kiara & Michael, grandson Eric Gomez; Son Carlos Gomez, grandchildren Carlos Jr and Mikel Gomez, granddaughter Kristina Gomez; Daughter Mary Scott her husband Tim, grandsons Tim and Brandon Scott, Nephew Pedro Mateo his wife Charo, all of Charlotte, NC & 5 nieces and 3 nephews too many to name. The Family would like to thank the extended family and friends for their continued support and prayers. Also the family would like to acknowledge the staff of Hospice for the home care they provided, for their kindness, gentleness, care, support and comforting moments administered during this difficult time. The family is blessed that their beloved Celina was able to be cared for and made comfortable, surrounded by her loving family at home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to Community Home Care & Hospice 12995 E. Independence Blvd, Matthews, NC 28105.
