Charlie Harkey

Charles Edward "Charlie" Harkey, age 72, passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at his home. Charlie was born in Charlotte, NC on September 12, 1941, the son of Samuel and Margaret Harkey. He graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. After serving in the United States Army, he graduated from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. He began his career with Celanese Corporation and later became a sales representative and distributor for hardware suppliers in the southeast. Charlie is survived by his beloved wife of fifty years, Rachel Dulin Harkey. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Lauren Page Williams (husband Jeff) of Harrisburg; sister, Carol Jean Thompson of Greensboro; and grandsons Trevor Kalinoski and Landon Williams. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Robinson Presbyterian Church. -
