Born in Dallas, Oregon in 1946, Connie Roberts departed this earthly realm from her home in Stallings, NC to join her Heavenly Father after nearly 75 adventurous years.
Always one to face life's challenges head on, beautiful Connie fought a most determined and gallant battle against the cancer that wracked her lithe body only to succumb to the Father's will.
While growing up in Bremerton, WA Connie demonstrated keen intelligence, unique organizational skills and a highly developed work ethic which led her to employment at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard where she would advance rapidly. Remarkably, she bought her first house at age 20, but tiring of shipyard bureaucracy she soon moved across Puget Sound to Seattle for work in the private sector. After a few years gaining experience in personnel and administration, she moved to California where she quickly rose to become the Exec Assistant to CEO, R and D Associates ( RDA) in Marina del Rey. When RDA opened a satellite office in Tacoma, WA in 1982 she led the way as the Director of Personnel and Administration. A few years later she moved on to a similar position at Weyerhouser's Specialty Plant Division and later would do similar work for First Command Financial Services. At heart though, Connie had an extremely strong entrepreneurial spirit and 20 years ago set up and operated her own pet care company, "Safe and Sound Pet Sitting" , in Olympia, WA. After a few years there, she and her husband moved to the Charlotte, NC where she re- started her mobile pet care business and it became a great success which by her definition was: many happy clients and well cared for pets. She adored animals and was a trusted member of the many families. She treasured those relationships.
Connie was well known for her culinary skills and as an accomplished gardener with the magic touch. She was also passionate about tennis and a determined golfer and distance runner. As opposed to tennis, which she actually practiced, she played golf with precious little practice and ran 5K races for years with little to no training -- all for the pure joy of it ! My Oh MY !
Her mother, Betty Weiser, and father, Clayton Avery, Jr. preceded Connie in death. Surviving are her devoted husband, Richard Roberts; son, Rick Roberts; daughter, Wendy Roberts-Koeck; grandson, Alex Koeck; step- mother, Emily Avery; brothers, Robert and Dale Avery; sisters, Darlene Dibley and Billie Graden; sister-in-law, Karen Roberts and many nieces and nephews; her dog Tasha-Nicole and cats, Hoover and Sammie Jo.
Connie's departure from this plane is deeply felt by all who knew her very sweet soul and spirit, but all can rest assured that her "born again" ( John 3:3) spirit is with the Lord -- forever set free by His truth (John 8:32).
Well Done Dearest Connie! Be thou at PEACE!
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Pacific Time ( 5:00 PM Eastern ) Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Stone Chapel, 22272 Foss Road, Poulsbo, WA.
