Connie Myrtle Burnett, 74, of Denver, North Carolina, passed away Sunday afternoon, June 19, 2011. She is preceded in death by her first son Ernest Talmadge (Tammy) Morgan, and third daughter Belinda Morgan. Ms. Burnett was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, April 21, 1937, and was the daughter of Earl Woodard and Connie Price Woodard. She lived most of her younger life in Shreveport. She loved to work with her hands. She and her first husband commercially fished and also traveled the United States constructing Microwave Towers. For many years she was employed as a Government Inspector at the Louisiana Army Ammunition Plant. Following many years of service, she retired from that plant. She loved to play poker, hit the casinos, go fishing, read, and really loved to travel. Her nick name was "Race Horse" because when she was ready to go... she was gone. She loved family gatherings, especially if there was boiled shrimp, two ears of corn, and red sauce was involved. She made the meanest Gumbo you would ever eat. Her immediate family includes her children, Mary Lou Sladden and her husband Thom, Gretta Morgan, Lonnie (Andy) Morgan and his wife Lorrie. She has several grandchildren Michelle McDuffy, Stephen Walker, Nikie Etters and husband Patrick, TJ Sladden and wife Christy, Meredith Sladden, Jennifer Johnson. She also has several great grandchildren Katie Walker, Christopher Starr, Ashli Starr, Olivia Etters, Rebecca Etters, Emma Sladden, Ethan Sladden, Owen Sladden, Marshall, and her dog Gracie. She will be dearly missed, yet will live on in all who she touched. -
