Danny McMillan

Daniel (Danny) Allen McMillan, age 62 ,was born on November 28, 1953, in Atlanta, GA. He left this life on August 29, 2016, at his home in Matthews, NC. As a young man, Danny served in the US Navy aboard the aircraft carrier USS America on the flight deck from 1972 - 1975 with a combat tour in Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam and tours in the Mediterranean Sea. He had a love of planes and flying, and obtained his pilot's license in 1991 at Wilgrove Airport. Danny was employed by the Town of Matthews in Public Works as an equipment operator. He enjoyed his job and co‐workers immensely. Losing his ability to go to work these last few months was one of the most difficult aspects of his illness for him. Danny had previously been employed by Piedmont Airlines/US Airways in the aircraft maintenance department for 17 years. Danny and his wife of 38 years, Judy, have been long‐time members of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail where he served and worshipped his Lord. They had previously been members for many years at Northside Baptist Church, where they met, fell in love and got married. Danny's memory will live forever in the hearts of his family members. He and wife, Judy, have three sons, Joshua (wife Ashley), Jonathan (wife Miranda) and Justin, five grandchildren; Grayson, Skyler, Jared, Bailey and Layla, sister, Pam Freeburn and brothers, Michael Hill and Russ McMillan, and his aunt Jan Seitz.
