David Lee Holmes

David Lee Holmes “Honey”, 80, of Creston, North Carolina went to be with Lord after short bout with lung cancer on Saturday March 12, 2022.  He leaves behind his loving wife of 57 years, Sarah Lee Willard Holmes; daughters Meredith Holmes and Missy Wood Evans; 7 grandchildren.

David loved the Lord. He was a person who loved others and putting them first came naturally. In 1964, David joined the U.S. Marines to serve his country. While he was a Marine he started a family with Sarah. The family lived in Charlotte, North Carolina and that’s  where they raised their two daughters. He worked as an accountant. David went to work for Wilmar Leasing in its beginning stage. He retired as Vice President after 30 years with the company. David and Sarah moved to Three Top Mountain. They loved this community and this community loved them back. David served faithfully thru Ashe Outreach and was also an active member of Creston United Methodist Church.

In lieu of flowers memorials should be made to Creston United Methodist Church in Creston, North Carolina.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Regional Hospice Care, Ash Memorial Hospital and Baptist Hospital for the special love and care that David and his family received.

A service to celebrate the life David Lee Holmes lived will take place at 11:00 am Saturday March 19, 2022 at Creston United Methodist Church. The family will greet friends at the conclusion of the service.
