It is with great sadness that the family of David Mack Wilson announce his passing on May 12, 2018, at the age of 74. David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 44 years, Lency, and his children, Dean Arp and his wife, Anne, Tracy Ratcliffe and her husband, Al, Christy Lawing and her husband, Kendall, and Jenny Kerns and her husband, Matt. David will also be remembered as "Poppy Bear" by his 7 grandchildren, Emily, Caleb, Scott, Holly, Lily, Elliott, and Luna. Other family members include his sisters, Doris Wilson, Carol Wilson, Joan Lippard and her husband, Barry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Helen Wilson, and his brother, Joe Wilson. David served in the Army National Guard of North Carolina and as a Reserve in the Army. He was a very skilled service technician with all types of graphic equipment. He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Charlotte. David had many interests including music, guitar, scuba diving, photography, horses, wood carving, Revolutionary War history. He also enjoyed Civil War artillery, making replica black power pistols, rifles and cannon, CB radio, and cycling. The family will gather from 10:00AM until 11:30AM, Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at Gaskin Funeral Services, 14617 West Lawyers Rd, Matthews, NC 28104, to greet friends. A funeral service will follow at 11:30. Burial will be in Charlotte Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that contributions be made to Novant Health - Matthews Medical Center Hospice. -
