David Ramsey High, 64, of Lake Wylie, SC, passed away very unexpectedly July 12, 2018. He was born July 11, 1954, in Wilmington, DE, to Richard (Dick) and Theda Yeagle High. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Richard (Rickie) High. Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Lori High; two daughters, Brittany (Boo Boo) Aycoth and Courtney (Scoopy) Clippinger; son-in-law and best friend, Daniel Aycoth, and soon-to-be son-in-law, Tony Koons; sister Cindy High Fischmann and husband, Rob; nephews, Brett and Corey Fischmann who he was so very proud; brother-in-law Curt Lienemann; cherished grandsons, Logan Barnett and Grady; special life-long friend James (Jimmy ) Stork, the Altersgate family, along with numerous other friends too many to name. Dave graduated from Calhoun Engineering School with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. A proud Navy Veteran, he traveled the world as a Merchant Marine. He was a member of the Masons, Valley Desperado Motorcycle Club and an adored member of the Aldersgate CCRC family where he was employed for the past 18 years and served as their Director of Strategic Planning and Development. He took a genuine interest in the residents lives and loved to hear their stories. He was an active member of the Charlotte's Mens Champion Organization, Chair of the Together Towards Tomorrow Committee, Charlotte East Board Member, Trustee of the Charlotte History Museum, and Chair of the Neighborhood Committee. Affectionally known as "Poppy" to many, he was named by his three grandsons who were the light of his life. He had a deep and special love for his family that will be greatly missed.He never met a stranger and always lit up the room when he walked in. He was the life of the party, an avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, lover of music and food. He will be remembered for his boisterous laugh and huge smile. Our hearts are broken, but are kinder because we loved this amazing soul. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember Dave through donations in his honor to the Aldersgate Supplemental Assistance Fund or the Wade Family Scholarship Fund.
