Deborah “Debbie” Ann Hamlett, 63, of Mint Hill walked into the arms of Jesus on June 30, 2022. Debbie's final days were spent with her children by her side as she won the fight against Alzheimer's.
She is survived by her loving children, Kim Deaton (Adam), Tyler Hamlett, and Matthew Hamlett (Erin Elizabeth), grandchildren Cooper Deaton, Yates Hamlett, Elsie Gray Hamlett, and sisters Teresa Sapp (Gene), Barbara (George), and Darlene (Ken). Also surviving are nieces and nephews Teresa Nickol, Donald Nickol, Taylor Sapp, Nikki Smith, Angela Adams, Calvin Hamlett, and Teresa Hamlett. She is preceded in death by her loving husband Michael Hamlett, parents Dwight and Rachel Blackmon.
Debbie was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on October 8, 1958. She graduated from Garinger High School. She worked for more than 20 years in the school cafeteria for Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.
Debbie could be found flashing her larger-than-life smile to everyone she met. She was known as a wife, mom, daughter, sister, sister-in-law, Mimi, aunt, friend, and caregiver. She served everyone in each of those roles in the most incredible and loving way. She always placed everyone else's needs above her own. One of her most cherished roles was being a Mimi. She would light up anytime she was around her grandchildren and played her heart out when they were around. Debbie also loved being a mom and taught her children how to be strong in storms, how to trust in the Lord with their entire hearts, and how to get on their knees and go before the Lord in prayer. She was constantly praying for her children, family, and friends.
You could find Debbie doing some of her most favorite hobbies which included yard work, washing cars, taking care of animals, and baking things ranging from cinnamon rolls to “big momma” rice krispy treats. She loved spending time with her husband and family at Ocean Lakes Campground in Myrtle Beach, S.C. Debbie enjoyed attending First Baptist Indian Trail.
Her beautiful life will be celebrated with a visitation on Tuesday, July 5th, 2022, from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Gaskin Funeral Home in Matthews, N.C. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, July 6th, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Sunset Memory Gardens in Mint Hill.
Her family would like to ask at this time that you share your beautiful smile with the people around you, care for your family and friends, enjoy ice cream for dinner (her favorite), and live each day finding the positives/blessings in the day.
