Dolores Burke "Dee" Ballard, 88, of Charlotte, went to be with the Lord Monday evening, September 12, 2011. She was born in Grafton, WV, and during WWII proudly served in the U.S. Navy where she met her husband of 63 years, the late Robert Keith Ballard. Following WWII, she worked for the City of Charlotte's Attorney's office. For forty plus years, her responsibility (that became her passion) was to provide legal research which prepared attorneys for court appearance. Her proudest moment, as a paralegal, was preparing for the case that the City of Charlotte successfully argued before the United States Supreme Court. Dee truly loved her family and was a loving wife, devoted mother and proud "Nana". Her immediate family includes her son, Michael Keith Ballard, and his wife, Kathleen, of Charlotte; her grandchildren, Jessica Jacumin, and her husband, Joshua, of Alexandria, VA, Heather Elliott, and her husband, Chris, of Mint Hill, Michelle Gianaris, and her husband, Brandon, of Charlotte, and Matthew Wesley Ballard, and his wife, Katie, of Charlotte; her great grandchildren, James Dawson Law, Justin Robert Jacumin, and Asher Davidson Elliott. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that memorial contributions be made in Dee's name to Candlewyck Baptist Church. -
