Donald Winchester "Don" Price

Don Price, 61, of Monroe, went to be with the Lord Thursday evening, May 6, 2010. A native of Monroe, Don was the son of the late Kemp N. Price and Margaret Winchester Price. Don attended Monroe High School and was a member of the Bravo Group with the Monroe National Guard during the Vietnam Era. He loved the outdoors which included farming and hunting. Don was a kind man with a big heart. When anyone in the community ever needed anything, he was always there. He was a loving husband, dedicated father, and proud "Poppy". Don had a true love for the Lord. Being raised in the home of one of the founding families of Roanoke Baptist Church, he learned the value of prayer from an early age. Don was presently a member of Love Baptist Church, were on many occasions he would comment "he had truly found a home". His immediate family includes his wife, Darlene H. Price; his daughters, Gini Wilson and her husband, Michael, and Donna Haigler and her husband, Todd; three grandchildren, Michaela and Madison Wilson and Hailey Haigler; his brother, Neal Price, and his wife, Wilma, all of Monroe. The family will gather to greet friends at 3:00 PM Monday, May 10, 2010, at Love Baptist Church, 707 Deese Rd. Monroe, NC 28110. A celebration of Don's life will begin at 4:00 PM. Reverend Don Thompson, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer that donations be made to the Love Baptist Church Building Fund.
