Doris Cauthen Jenkins

August 28, 1925 — 2025

Doris Cauthen Jenkins, a beloved mother, grandmother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2025, in Charlotte, North Carolina, surrounded by her loving family. Born on August 28, 1925, in Lancaster, South Carolina, Doris's life was a rich tapestry of love, faith, and unforgettable memories.

A dedicated member of Central Church of God for 47 years, Doris was actively involved in her community, particularly fond of her time with the Widows Connection Group and Prime Timers. Her faith guided her throughout her life, providing strength and comfort to those around her. Doris truly loved our lord an savior and was a witness at every opportunity allotted to her.

Doris had a thirst for adventure, always finding joy in traveling and relishing the experiences gained from a good cruise. She had an infectious spirit that inspired many to appreciate the beauty of the world beyond their front doors.

She leaves behind her devoted son, James R. Sims, and his wife, Rhonda; her daughter, Margaret Israel, and her husband, Glenn; as well as her daughter, Rebecca Ann Davis, and her husband, Ed. Doris was the proud grandmother of four grandchildren, and even prouder as a great-grandmother to eleven great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also carry on her legacy of love and kindness.

Doris is now reunited with her parents, Theron Judson Cauthen and Cora Deese; and her sister, Pauline Hancock, who have been lovingly remembered throughout her life.

As we gather to celebrate Doris’s remarkable journey, we invite all who knew her to join us in remembering the light she brought to our lives. A visitation will be held on February 21, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a memorial service from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Central Church, located at 5301 Sardis Rd., Charlotte, NC. The day will conclude with a graveside service at Sharon Memorial Park at 3:00 PM.

Doris’s life was a testament to the profound impact of love, faith, and community, leaving a legacy that will resonate through her family for generations to come. Her spirit will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
