Edith Jane Denson

Edith Jane Massey Denson was greeted by Jesus on December 8, 2018. She was born on October 2, 1933, in Wake Forest, NC, and along with her many brothers and sisters, grew up in a little house by the railroad tracks. She graduated from Wake Forest High School. Her family attended Glen Royal Baptist Church and it was there that she met a young, Wake Forest College student, Joe Denson. They were married in May of 1955. Although they lived in many places because Joe was in the Army, they settled in Charlotte. They had a son, Joe, and a daughter, Debbie. Edith was a kindergarten teacher at Wilmont Christian School and at Southview Child Development Center. She is a member of Southview Baptist Church where Joe was Pastor for over 38 years. She and Joe were able to travel a lot in their time together. They went on many bus tours traveling from NC to Canada to California and throughout the United States. They went on several cruises with friends and family. Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, and her son, Joe, Jr., her mother and father, Frank and Minnie Massey, her brothers, Andrew and Dick, and her sister, Annie Louise. She is survived by her daughter, Debbie, and her husband, John. Edith has three grandchildren: Joanna Denson Morgan (Chad), Geoffrey Denson, and Nathan Campbell. She is also survived by two sisters Shirley Massey (Boyce) and Rose Bailey (Bill). She has a multitude of nieces and nephews. We would like to thank Brighton Gardens for their care of Edith for several years. We would like to thank the Hospice Unit at Presbyterian Hospital Main and to those at Charlotte Orthopedic Hospital. In lieu of flowers, give to the research of Alzheimer's and Dementia - there needs to be a cure for this disease. Other organizations that should be remembered are Hospice Units in your area and your local pet rescue organizations. -
