Emily Northington Brantley 83, entered Heaven July 8, 2013. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Louise Allen Howey, (Roscoe), brother, Comer Northington Jr. (Rachael), and grandson, Jonathan DiPietro. Emily was born July 7, 1930, in Davisboro, Georgia, the daughter of the late Comer and Mattie Northington and graduated from Charlotte Central High and attended Appalachian State University. Emily's immediate family includes her husband of 63 years, Farris Brantley, Sr.; sons, Farris Brantly , Jr. and Everett Brantley ; her daughter Patricia DiPietro and her husband, Nicholas; grandchildren, Dr. Joseph DiPietro, James DiPietro, Emerson and Christa Brantley; her brother, Rev. James Northington and his wife, Mary; and several nieces and nephews. Emily was a member of the Bowles Class at Dilworth United Methodist Church for 68 years, a Salvation Army volunteer, and a member of the Pineville and Charlotte Eastern Lions Clubs. She loved watching birds in her beautiful flower gardens, playing bridge, and making many lovely afghans and ceramic pieces for family and friends. Her positive attitude and deep faith are an inspiration to all who knew her. *In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 E.
