Bud Orr, 83, of Charlotte, went to be with our Lord May 12, 2010, while in the care of Carolinas Medical Center -University. A native of Charlotte, he was born on October 28, 1926, and worked for Lance, Inc. for a number of years following graduation from Derita High School. Bud later began his career as a music instructor for a number of string instruments, including guitar, mandolin, banjo, and bass fiddle. His career spanned over 50 years, teaching several hundreds of students at Neil Griffin Music Studio, and later in his own home as he cared for his aging mother, Emma Newton Orr. He was dearly beloved as a kind, loving friend, and excellent music teacher throughout the Carolinas. Bud has several music instruction books published through Mel Bay Publishers and was considered one of the largest and most knowledgeable collectors of different styles of recorded music within the entire Southeast. Graveside services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, May 15, 2010, at Sharon Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to medical schools specializing in stroke prevention and care and Evangelical Christian Ministries of choice.
