Fletcher M. Green of Charlotte, North Carolina, died Thursday, August 30, 2012, at home after battling brain cancer. He had been looking forward to going to his heavenly home and seeing his Lord and Savior, Jesus. Fletcher was born on April 8, 1932, in Chapel Hill to Dr. and Mrs. Fletcher Green. He is survived by his wife Julie of 52 years; his children, Elizabeth, John Perry (Beth) and Tyre (Sunny); his grandchildren, Julie, Ashleigh, Kathryn, Will, Jackson, Austin, Laurel and Sam; and his siblings, Carolyn, Ramsey (Karen) and Elizabeth (Larry). He also had numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws that he cherished. He was preceded in death by his son, Fletcher Green III. Fletcher graduated from prep school at Emory University Academy in Oxford, GA where he was president of his senior class. He earned his BA at UNC in 1953. At Chapel Hill he was a member of the student legislature, soccer team, monogram club, and ATO fraternity. Several of his ATO fraternity brothers and their wives remained his dearest friends. After college he served in the US Army Counterintelligence Corps in Germany. He worked for 33 years for DuPont during which he earned an MBA from Queens University. He was a member of St. Johns Episcopal Church. His woodworking talent was appreciated at church as well as at Love, Inc., Shepherd Center, Habitat for Humanity and Jackson Park Ministries. Fletcher loved to golf, fish, garden, cook, read and collect stamps. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Jackson Park Ministries or Love, Inc. -
