[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Mr. Fred Wilson Ross took the Lord’s hand on May 13, 2021 while at home with his family. Fred was born on December 21, 1934 to Ora Adeline Caudle Ross and Charlie Preston Ross and was the baby of 15 children.
Fred is survived by his high school sweetheart and beloved wife of 68 years Myra Elizabeth (Beth) Kiker Ross of Indian Trail; son Steven Ross (Connie) of Sevierville, TN; daughter Wanda Ross Greene (Boyd) of Indian Trail; son Gary Ross of Indian Trail; sister Sara Thomas (Joe Frank) of Peachland ; grandchildren Amy Garber (Gabe) of Boise ID; Amanda Sheffield (Jason) of Galveston, TX, Michael Keller (Jane) of Norman, OK; Stacy Cunningham (Joel) of San Antonio, TX; Jarrett Ross of Sevierville, TN; Andrew Greene of Monroe, Jessica Martin (Matt) of Matthews; Samantha Ross of Monroe; Rebecca McDiarmid (Kellan) of Monroe and 20 great grandchildren.
Fred retired from Bell South after working there for 34 years. Shortly after retiring he started his own communications company, RCOM, and worked for an additional 11 years. Fred loved to travel and he and Beth visited all 50 states, many of them numerous times, and also visited all but one province in Canada.
His travels were normally done at a leisure pace so he could enjoy all that nature had to offer.
Fred loved God and his church, Mill Grove UMC, where he was an active member. Among the things he was involved with over the years included serving as lay leader, teaching Sunday School for adults and children, serving as youth leader, being active in the United Methodist Men group, participating in numerous missions building teams and serving as the leader in all the building projects for the church.
Besides his love for his wife, his family, his God and his church, Fred loved his John Deere tractor and his John Deere collection. According to Fred, the only color a tractor should be is green and yellow!
A celebration of life service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 23, at Mill Grove United Methodist Church in Indian Trail. Visitation with the family will take place from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Fred’s name be made to Mill Grove UMC, 7311 Mill Grove Rd, Indian Trail, NC 28079 or Novant Health Hospice, PO Box 33549, Charlotte, NC 28233.
