Herman Malcolm Sease

Herman Malcolm Sease, 90, of Charlotte, NC  left his family behind and entered into the glory of Heaven on Wednesday, June 19, 2024. He has left a lasting legacy of kindness, integrity, and dedication. He will always be known as a man of sincere prayer, with a fun-loving heart. 

Herman was born February 10, 1934 in Barnwell, SC to Edward and Florrie Sease. In 1955, he went to serve in the US Army. He was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, TX, Fort Eisenhower, GA (formally Fort Gordon), and Fort Moore, GA (formally Fort Benning). Later he was stationed in Bamberg, Germany. While in the service, he met Wadene McDaniel and married her in 1961.

 After Herman's time in the army, he started his career as a salesman with Reserve Life Insurance in Columbus, GA, and later was promoted to State Manager in Alabama. When he relocated to Charlotte, NC with his family, he became a Regional Manager, which was a major accomplishment in his career. He went on to work at Mutual of Omaha and then started his own business, the Sease Insurance Agency.

Over the years, Herman and Wadene became the parents of three children and he loved being with them and his many friends. One of the greatest joys of his life was becoming a grandfather and the twins were the lights to his life. His pastimes included playing cards, golfing, traveling, fishing, and he was known to have a green thumb. He savored eating breakfast, barbeque and fried fish at local dives, and would drink his coffee black. 

From an early age, Herman learned that God was always with him and he loved to serve his church and community. He fulfilled several roles within the church including Sunday School teacher, usher, greeter, kitchen volunteer, and he frequently ministered to people in the hospital.  In the community, he volunteered with the Gideons and Loaves and Fishes, a local food bank. 

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Wadene Sease; son, Greg (Sarah) Sease; daughters, Tracy (Chris) Mueller and Kristen Sease; grandchildren, Cole and Carter Sease, along with many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Florrie and Edward Sease; sisters, Marcel (Buster) Bates and Mae (Roy) Brown ; brothers, Edward Jr. Sease and Roy (Mary) Sease. 

A ceremony of celebration will be held on July 20, 2024 at Carmel Baptist Church. The service will be at 2:00, with visitation following.  In lieu of flowers, work in your garden, spend some time with nature, or donate to your local food bank.
