Mr. Homer Hughes Cash, 95 of Matthews, North Carolina, died Wednesday, May 29, 2013 at home. Born February 15, 1918, in Rutherford County, NC, he was the son of the late Zephy Lloyd Cash and Merle Parham Cash. Homer served in the Army Signal Corps during World War II, serving tours of duty in the Philippines, Korea and Papua New Guinea. He and his partner, Ted Hunt, owned and operated C and H Appliance Service from 1957 to 1993, and serviced the Charlotte metro area. In semi-retirement, he refurbished appliances for the needy through the Department of Social Services. Homer was preceded in death by his parents, his two sisters, Ruby and Dorothy as well as his wife, Geraldine. His two children, Jocelyn Rozelle Cash of Matthews, his son Mark Hughes Cash, and two grandsons, Benjamin Hughes and Daniel Taylor of Oakboro, North Carolina, survive him. -
