Dr. Jacek Dmochowski, 57, passed away on April 17, 2016 at his home in Matthews, NC. He was born August 25, 1958 in Warsaw, Poland to Alina and Jerzy Dmochowski and immigrated to the United States in pursuit of a higher education and opportunity. A graduate of Purdue University with a Ph.D. in Statistics, Jacek became a professor at the University of Buffalo in NY. He later became a tenured professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Jacek contributed to numerous scientific publications and co-authored a medical patent. Jacek will be remembered for his inquisitive mind, patience towards students, love of sports and nature hikes, but most importantly, he will be remembered as a devoted husband and father. He is survived by his mother Alina Dmochowski; his wife of 30 years, Halina Anna Dmochowski; his son Jakub Marcin Dmochowski and his daughter-in-law, Betsy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to fund a memorial bench at Boyce Park where he walked his dogs daily for fourteen years.
