James Harrill Padgett, passed away on March 10, 2018 at the age of 58. A native of Shelby, Jim attended NC State University and owned his own business (JHP enterprises) working in construction and restoration. Jim was a free spirit and always up for an adventure, making an early mark by riding his bike from Shelby, to his grandparents' home in Hermiston, Oregon at age 15. He volunteered his time in the community at Habitat for Humanity and the Cecelia Beck Project of First Baptist Church of Shelby. Jim is survived by his mother, Irene Padgett Ward of Cascade, Idaho, his daughters, Hattie Rose Padgett and Lillian Key Padgett of Shelby; and his brother, Samuel Key Padgett of Waxhaw, NC. Jim was dearly loved by his nieces, cousins, and a host of long-time friends. Jim was predeceased by his father, Oscar Padgett Jr. A celebration of Jim's life will be held on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 1pm at the First Baptist Church of Shelby's, Webb Chapel (front door on Washington Street). Friends and family are welcome to attend. Memorial donations can be given in Jim's name to Habitat for Humanity, Cleveland County, 323 W Grover St, Shelby, NC 28150, or First Baptist Church Shelby - Cecelia Beck Fund, 120 N Lafayette St, Shelby, NC 28150. Jim will always be remembered for his giving spirit, kind heart, and service to others. -
