Janice Porter Lowder, born on December 9, 1938, passed peacefully into her eternal home on March 24, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. A cherished member of the Fairview community, Janice dedicated her life to serving others and exemplified the virtues of love, compassion, and faith.
Janice was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, where she devoted many years to nurturing the faith of children as a Sunday School teacher. Her commitment to her church and her community reflected her deep-seated belief in the importance of service and familial ties.
Beyond her spiritual commitments, Janice enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She found great joy in playing the piano and cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. As a caregiver, she poured her heart into ensuring that others felt loved and valued, demonstrating a remarkable ability to connect with those around her. Janice truly lived for her Savior, consistently seeking ways to express the love of Christ to everyone she encountered.
Janice is survived by her daughters, Karen (Ray) Pearson and Tonia (Chuck) Helms, and her son, Jerry (Vicky) Lowder. She will be deeply missed by her family, including her sister, Kaye Stewart of the Fairview community, along with a host of loved ones. Her legacy continues through her eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory and values forward.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, the late James and Edna Porter, her husband, the late Jesse L. Lowder, as well as her brothers Kenneth and Jerry.
A visitation and funeral service will be held in Janice's honor at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church located at 7608 Concord Hwy in Monroe, NC. The visitation will occur on March 27, 2025, starting at 12:30 PM, followed by the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate her life and the impact she had on so many.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the caregivers at The Landings of Cabarrus and Tucker Hospice House for their compassionate care during Janice's final days. Janice Porter Lowder will be remembered not only for her caring spirit but also for the profound love she shared with her family and friends throughout her life.
