Jean Matilda Holloway, 95, of Mint Hill, died November 7, 2021.
She was born May 7, 1926 in Prospect Park, New Jersey, daughter of Jennie and Harry Roe. A child of the depression, Jean grew into a young woman with interests in community concerns. In her late teens, she married Edward Holloway who was off to war, leaving her to work as one of our nations Rosie the Riveters. She served her church as a member of the United Methodist Women, church historian, aided in the church office and worked as a member of mission building teams in the Caribbean and continental United States. She also served as an active member of The Red Cross Disaster Relief Team, traveling throughout the United States. As a wife of a WWII Veteran, she was active in the American Legion State Auxilliary in New Jersey, holding a Lifetime Achievement membership.
Mrs. Holloway is survived by her children, Sharon Van Kuren and husband, Richard and Doris Hall and husband, Noel. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Donna Holloway. She was blessed with six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her beloved brother, Charles Roe of New Jersey and brother-in-law, Thomas Natoli of Massachusetts.
She is joined in peaceful rest with her beloved husband, Edward James Holloway and son, Kenneth Charles Holloway.
Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Sunday, November 14, 2021 at Blair Road United Methodist Church, 9135 Blair Road, Charlotte, NC 28227. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn East Cemetery, Weddington.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Blair Road United Methodist Church, Educational Building Fund.
“Due to family health concerns, they respectfully request that those attending the service please refrain from wearing perfumes and colognes and to follow COVID-19 protection protocol.”
