Jerry Donald Maddox, 73 of Matthews, NC left the arms of his loving wife and was welcomed home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 30th 2011 surrounded by his children, grandchildren and friends. Born January 9th, 1938 in Laurel, MS to Gladys Peters and Alfred Maddox, he married Florence Ann Jones, his high school sweetheart, January 28, 1957. Jerry had a great personality and enjoyed serving and being with people. He worked hard all his life, starting his own business, Video Memories, Inc. in 1981. Jerry loved to share in people's lives, videotaping weddings, special events and homes. Video Memories was one of the first home inventory services in the country, serving some of the most prominent families throughout the US. He videotaped over a thousand weddings as one of the premier videographers. Jerry was the same man working with CEO's or taping country weddings, taking every opportunity to share his faith. Most important to Jerry was guiding and leading his children to be independent, hard working and to love God and others. A committed Christian, his strong faith was evident in every area of his life. A member of Carmel Baptist Church for 37 years, he served as deacon, teacher and active member of the Robertson Men's class. He loved serving on many mission trips. Jerry had a personal relationship with Christ and was a witness for the Lord in his life and death. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence Ann; sons, Michael, Steve (Betsy), daughters Debbie McCully (Bob), Angela Andrews, Susan Huxster (Chuck); grandchildren, Ashley Maddox Scott (John), Mark, Laura and Lindy Maddox, Jared and Molly Andrews, Rebeccah and Branden McCully, Grayson, Chandler and Emma Huxster; great grandchild David Scott; brother Billy Maddox (Laverne), sisters Clelia Ann Ospeth, Mary Jack Handley, & Betty Sue Hammond (John). He is preceded in death by brother John Maddox.
