Jerry Gaddy

Jerry Gaddy went home to his Lord and Savior on the afternoon of Saturday, August 6th. He was surrounded by family as he passed from death into eternal life. He was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, mentor and friend. He fought the good fight, kept the faith, and finished well. While we grieve his passing for our own sakes, we celebrate the knowledge that he is now healed and no longer suffering. His faith has become his sight. We rejoice in the promise that we will one day see him again, thanks to the blessed work of our Lord Jesus. We give thanks for every day of Jerry's life with us here on earth. He was born to the late Carl and Doris Gaddy in Charlotte North Carolina. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Donna King. He was happily married to Camille for almost 51 years, and would have turned 72 years young on August 19th of this year. He is also survived by his mother Doris Gaddy; two daughters; Stephanie Connor, married to John; and Kimberly Hoogmoed married to Jyles Walker; and a beautiful, vivacious granddaughter, Lily Grace Hoogmoed. He enjoyed many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as well. Jerry and Camille had a wonderful life together. They served in their church and community in various roles over the years. Jerry's kind and joyous spirit touched many lives. His hobbies included traveling, wood-working, sports and reading. One of his favorite trips was an annual family vacation to The Blue Ridge Mountains of Georgia. We were blessed to enjoy our last mountain trip together just this past June. His laughter could fill a room with gladness, his hugs could always make everything better. Everyone in his life knew that they were loved. He had been in Hospice care for a little over a month, due to the complications of cancer. We will not question God's timing, for we know that our days here on earth are numbered. We will grieve, but not without hope. We will give thanks for the honor of being touched by such a wonderful life. Psalm 23:6 "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever...."
