Joan Elma Miller, 80, of Monroe, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2012, while surrounded by her loving and caring family. She was the loving wife of Kenneth E. Miller who preceded her in death, and loving mother of 3 children, Bonnie Smith (Kenneth) of Lake Park, NC, Diane Butler (David) of Matthews, NC and Barry Miller (Sonya) of Monroe, NC and 3 grandchildren, Chris, Megan and Kristi and 4 great-grandchildren, Riker, Rylee, Kinsley and Stony. Joan was born in Roebling, NJ on April 26, 1931 to parents George and Evelyn Sundin. She had one brother, Herbert Sundin and two sisters, Shirley Nemeth and Dorothy Miller, all deceased. Joan lived in the Yardville/Trenton, NJ area until the family moved to Matthews/Monroe, NC in 1980. She retired from IMO Industries (DeLaval) in Monroe, NC. The family wishes to thank the Levine & Dickson Hospice House for their tender care during Joan's illness. Memorials may be given to the Levine & Dickson Hospice House or the American Diabetes Association.
