Joel W Carriker

Joel Wilburn Carriker was born in Unionville, NC on March 9th, 1942. He passed away on Monday April 14th, 2025. At the time of his passing he lived in Mint Hill, NC. He took his final breaths in his home beside his wife of 63 years, his family, and friends. He is survived by his wife Carolyn, his son Randy, his wife Kathleen. His 12 grandchildren Amanda, Brett, Trevor, Ashton, Tiffany, Tyler, Courtney, Pamela, Tanner, Carmen, Taylor, and Colby. His great grandchildren Kason, Melina, Hadley, Wyatt, Thomas, Aubree, Amelia, Kennedy, Avery, Lincoln, Emmy, Harrison, Delaney, and one more grandson on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents Buford and Colon Carriker. His children Pamela and Doug. His brothers Dwayne and Gene.

In his life Joel was a multifaceted entrepreneur. He was a general contractor for a majority of his life building craft custom homes all over Charlotte. His life's joy were his family, friends, and church. In his years as a grandfather he could be found out on the lake with his children and grandchildren slinging anyone who would take the risk on the tube. Otherwise he would be found doing work in his yard with his wife or golfing with friends. He was a “whatever it takes” kind of man. Doing anything he could to help his family enjoy their lives as best they could. Joel Carriker has been a pillar of the Mint Hill community since moving here in 1963 and will be greatly missed in his death.
