Joyce Dickson Southern

Joyce Dickson Southern, 92, of Charlotte went to be with the Lord Thursday July 28^th, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 20 years, Ralph Eugene Southern. 

Joyce was born to Lloyd Benjamin Dickson and Vera Turner Dickson and lived in Charlotte her entire life. She worked a full career in the accounting department of Southern Bell. Joyce had many interests, but she especially enjoyed traveling and going to and hosting yard sales. She was an avid fan of the Charlotte 49ers athletic programs.

Joyce loved the Lord with all her heart, and it showed through her generosity and sweet spirit.

Her immediate family members include stepchildren Diana Swinson, Darrell Southern, Mike Southern, sisters Vera Buff and Ruth Bailey, brothers John Dickson, and Robert Dickson. Joyce was preceded in death by stepchildren Sue Bell, Vernon Southern and Wayne Southern, sister Doris Jefferies and brother Ben Dickson. Joyce was also survived by life long friend and companion Fred Hunter. 

The family will receive friends at Central Church of God 5301 Sardis Rd. Charlotte, NC 28270 at 10 AM. With a celebration of Joyce’s life to follow in the sanctuary at 11:00 AM.
