Judy Mae Bennett

February 4, 1948 — December 15, 2020

On Tuesday, December 15th, Judy “Red Rose” Bennett, loving wife, mom, friend, teacher, baker, seamstress, servant, traveler, prayer warrior, and cheerleader passed away at the age of 72.

Born in Bandana, NC, Judy graduated from Appalachian State University before starting a 3-decade teaching career. She met her husband Bill on a blind date, and aside from one brief break-up in their courtship, they spent the next 50 years side-by-side.

She spent 33 years at Providence Day School, where she taught countless kids everything from the game of H-O-R-S-E to how to sew a purse.

She loved her church, whether serving in the kitchen, going to bible study, attending her “Teacups” group, or simply walking the pews to find old and new friends alike.

After retiring, Judy spent her time traveling—mostly to nowhere—with her devoted husband, when she wasn’t delivering brownies, pies and cheer to friends. She took great pride in her kids and her granddaughters, and never stopped bragging on them to anyone who would listen.

Most of all, Judy loved Jesus, and it showed in how she loved others.

She is survived by her best friend and husband Bill, her kids Samuel and Lindsey, son-in-law Mark, grandchildren Raleigh, Gracie, and Millie, and favorite niece Sonya, along with an extended family of brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Judy would love to be honored with a donation to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
