Julia "Julie" Ford was born in Elmira, NY to Celestine and Luke Smallcomb on January 4, 1953. She was one of their 8 children and attended school at St. Peter and Paul's before graduating from Southside Highschool in 1970.
Julie spent her adult life dedicated to her 2 children, Sean Ferris and Cheri Ford. She worked diligently with the owners of some of the most beloved establishments of her home town, including downtown Harold's, Pudgies Pizza and Mr. Panosians. She loved working in the sunshine in her veggie garden, growing her rose bushes, and time at home with her family.
Julie was a faithful parishioner of Saint Mary's in Elmira for over 30 years and a devoted daughter to her mother. She was an adoring grandmother to her 6 grandsons: Chance Michael, Coty Luke, John James, Noah James, Matthew Elijah and Jack David. She spent most of her life in her NY hometown before moving to Charlotte, NC to share in her daughter's home and family in 2014. She loved listening to music, taking walks around the neighborhood and sharing stories. She was quick to make friends of strangers.
Julie was mercifully rescued from Alzheimer's by her Heavenly Father and taken home to rest in His comfort on December 27th, 2018.
She is survived by her children, Sean and Dorian & Cheri and Evan, as well as her sweet grandsons and many siblings, nieces, nephews and loving friends. She is predeceased by her parents and her sister, Mary Carl and her dear brother, Luke Smallcomb.
Our family has been blessed to be served and cared for by Gaskin Funeral Services during this time and arrangements for a memorial prayer service there in Matthews will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
