June Washam Bigham, 76, of Charlotte went to be with Jesus on Friday, April 22, 2016. June was born in Charlotte to James Kirkpatrick Washam and Dorothy Burgess Washam on December 22, 1939. She graduated from East Mecklenburg High School. In addition to being a wonderful mother she held various jobs such as school bus driver, dental assistant, and retired from her work as a technician at Hoechst Celanese in 1995. After retirement she and husband, Lee, enjoyed traveling through 49 states in their RV, plus Hawaii, and visiting children in various parts of the world. June loved her church family at Ebenezer ARP Church and served in the nursery, ran the church bookstore, participated in youth fundraisers and mission trips, and was active in women's ministries. She was active in the community as a Girl Scout leader and a Cub Scout leader. She is preceded in death by daughter, Libby Apel, and sister, Bobbie Korzsun. Survivors include: husband, Lee Bigham; children: Dottie Schwarz (Larry), Teresa Hanes (Brady), Lee Jr. (Mary), and son-in-law, Lorn Apel; sister: Kay Blount; grandchildren: Lacy Ingle (Jonathan), BJ Hanes (Rachel), Seth Hanes, Shea Weathers (Steven), Laira Bigham, Caleb Bigham, Joel Bigham, Micah Apel, and Eliza Apel; great grandchildren: Porter Hanes, Evie Grace Hanes, Leah Kate Hanes, Leo and Theo Moo, and coming soon, Elizabeth Ingle; and numerous nieces and nephews. Her dedication to family will be missed and her great faith will continue to be a testimony to all who had the privilege of loving her. The family would especially like to thank Jolyn Ferguson for the love she has shown to June in the last year while helping to care for her and in doing so, becoming a part of our family. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Apel Family support through Campus Crusade for Christ or Hospice & Pallative Care Charlotte Region.
