Kathleen Isabelle Abrams

Kathleen Isabelle Abrams (Sheehy) passed away peacefully at her home on July 15, 2021.  She was born February 23, 1945 and was the daughter of the late Walter and Julia Marinscak Sheehy. In addition to her parents, Kathye was preceded in death by her former husband, Joseph Daniel Estrada. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Estrada Hallman of Matthews, NC; and sister, Corinne Bachmann and husband, Jimmy Freibott of Texas. Kathye cherished her best friend, Nancy Tapley of Alabama, with whom she shared a work relationship, many talks, trips and visits. She spoiled her beloved cat, Lorelei, and they kept each other company for the last 7 years.  Kathye had a special friendship with neighbors, Kathy Phifer and Linda Justice. They were there for each other in the blink of an eye. Kathye was a dedicated employee of Revlon, Exxon Mobil, and Compass Group, from which she retired in 2010.  In 2011, Kathye became an ESL instructor for the Indian Trail Spanish Mission in the Presbyterian Church.  From there she became the ESL coordinator at Newell Presbyterian Church Latino Ministry until she became a member of the First Baptist Church of Huntersville, where she was an attendee of the Latino congregation. She continued ESL classes and tutoring the children of the ministry, children whom she adored and they adored her.  Kathye loved all of the members of the congregation and enjoyed the celebrations and events she attended.  She was always willing to assist Reverend Rafael Hernandez with church activities (mainly translating!)  and considered Reverend Rafael and his wife, Emma, very special friends.  Funeral services will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Huntersville, 14813 North Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, NC, with Senior Pastor, Rev. Stacey Nowell and Rev. Rafael Hernandez officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
