Kathleen Ruth Tassy

March 28, 1952 — May 14, 2020

On Thursday, May 14, 2020, Kathleen Ruth Tassy, the wife of Jean-Arnaud Tassy and mother to Jean-Rene and Christopher, went to be with the Lord at age 68.

Kathleen was born March 28, 1952 in Buffalo, New York.  She graduated from Kenmore East High and received both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at Buffalo State College.  Kathleen was a “stay at home” mom while her boys were young and earned her first degree when Jean-Rene graduated from college and Christopher graduated from high school.  Kathleen then taught Health and Home Economics for many years and became certified as an Administrator.  She retired from Tonawanda Middle School and moved with Tass to Charlotte to be closer to her boys and their families.

Through a church visitation Kathleen came to know Jesus.  That seed of truth was planted in her and she began her journey to live for Christ and have a relationship with Him.  Her life and actions were reflected with love, passion and conviction.  Kathleen’s gifts then began to change focus in using them to serve God.  She served by being a camp counselor, partnering with Tass in the inner city bus ministry, creating a mentorship program for her high school students, supporting her grandchildren with their interests, and even watching her sons play soccer in their 40s.  Rain or shine, Kathleen supported her family and all their athletic endeavors.  She never wanted to be an inconvenience to anyone, even to the end.  Another gift she possessed was being a peace-maker.  She arguably made the best apple pie on the planet.

Kathleen’s life verse comes from 3 John 4. It states, “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”

Kathleen is survived by her two siblings, Cal Kern and Lori Flores, her husband, Tass; older son Jake, wife Katie, children Stephen, Jenna and Micah; younger son Christopher, wife Julie, children Harper and Ella.
