INDIAN TRAIL, NC - Mr. Kenneth Ray McDougald, 84, passed away Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at his residence.

A memorial service will be held 12:30 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at First Baptist Church Indian Trail, 732 Indian Trail-Fairview Road, Indian Trail, NC, where he was a member. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, at the church. Interment, with military honors, will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 27, 2023 at Richmond County Memorial Park Cemetery, 1717 E Broad Avenue in Rockingham, NC.

Ken was born July 14, 1938 in Rockingham, NC and was the son of the late James Robert and Lorene Clayton (McDougald) West. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Daniel West and step-mother, Aree McDougald.

Ken was a United States Navy Veteran and served his country on the aircraft carriers Intrepid and Forrester. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy, he graduated from King’s College and retired from BB&T after a long career in the banking industry. He was a loving husband of more than 60 years, to his wife, Betty. Ken loved spending time with his family, traveling, taking part in mission trips and was especially proud of his association with The Gideons International, doing his part to spread the gospel. His family will remember him as a wonderful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who was a faithful Christian and an example to everyone he met.

In addition to Betty, Ken is survived by his daughters, Karen Price and husband, Jeff and Pam Millard and husband, Mark; sisters, Patricia King and husband, Jerry and Linda King; grandchildren, Jaren Rick and husband, Cody, Alex Beal and fiance’, Ilana Sibilia and her daughter, Aubrey; Caleb Millard and Landon Millard; great-grandson, Ezra Rick; and his miniature dachshund, Reece Cup who loved to sit on his lap and cuddle.

In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests, with gratitude, that memorial contributions, in Ken’s honor, be made to The Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800 ( www.gideons.org ).
