L.W. "Dub" Greene

"Dub" Greene, 79, went home to be with Jesus Friday, February 11, 2011. Born in Union County, NC, he was the eighth child of the late Lonnie Wilson and Jane Hinson Greene. He is also preceded in death by his precious daughter, Vicki Lynne; brothers, Wriston, Walter, and Bob; sisters, Polly and Myrtle. Mr. Greene was a graduate of Unionville High School, a US Army veteran, and a member of the Union Masonic Lodge 618 of Midland. He was a retired entrepreneur in the furniture business. He took great joy and pride in his children and grandchildren. Dub was uniquely identified by his charming sense of humor and love of life, even after suffering many health challenges in later years. The family extends its greatest appreciation to the nurses and staff at Jesse Helms Nursing Facility for the quality of love and care they provided. Dub is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Peggy Helms Greene; son Eddie and wife, Connie; daughters Sharyn VonCannon and husband, Phil, and Cassaundra Price and husband, Marty. Paw Paw Greene is also survived by precious grandchildren, Andrea, Anthony, Rin, Megan, Jessica, Devin, Keri, and Braydon, each of whom he loved dearly; brothers, Charles and Nathan; sisters, Blondell, Edith, and Jessie.
