Leslie Michele Evans lived her life as a wonderful daughter, wife, mother and daughter-in-law. She graduated from Independence High School in 1991. In 1995, she graduated with honors from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a degree in Elementary Education. Her professional career included working for Crowder Construction and Myers Park Presbyterian Church as Worship Assistant. For the last nine years, she worked as the Membership Services Director at Myers Park Country Club. She loved her Myers Park family and she always enjoyed the challenges her careers afforded her.
Leslie was married in June of 1995, and her family was one of her greatest Joy's in life. She was a devoted wife to Mark and mother to Eric. She gave herself selflessly to her family and considered it a true joy to care for her family no matter what the need.
Leslie's strength came from her deep abiding faith in her Lord, Jesus Christ. Her faith and relationship with Christ was the foundation of who she was and all that she did. She served as a Sunday School teacher for children and led the Wednesday evening children's ministry at Wolf Pond Baptist Church in Pageland, S.C. She loved travelling to Nicaragua every year to minister to the needs of the people there with her church and Chosen Children Ministries based in Inman, SC. Her great love came in sharing the love of Jesus with everyone she encountered every day that she lived.
Her smile left an indelible mark on everyone she met; her faith, strength and courage was an inspiration to all she came in contact with. In 2015, she was diagnosed with stage two breast cancer and after almost a year of treatment she was declared cancer free. In December of 2017, she discovered that cancer had returned. Throughout her treatment she remained positive and continued to share her smile with everyone. Her love and smile served to inspire all of us and we are thankful for everyday the Lord blessed us with her.
Leslie is survived by, her husband Mark Evans and their son Eric, her Mother and Father, David and Donna Hiza, brothers Jim and Alan Hiza, and niece Anna Hiza. Father and Mother in-law Richard(Dick) and Harriet Evans, brother and sister in-law John and Erin Evans and niece Parker Evans.
