Born in Charlotte on June 11, 1940, Linda graduated from Central High School and went on to a life filled with love and laughter.  She cherished spending time with her family and friends under the warm sun at the beach and created countless memories.

Linda's proudest accomplishment was her large and loving family. Raised as an only child, she always dreamed of having a big family of her own. She leaves behind a legacy of love through her six children: Melanie Ray (Ed Cole), Robin Ray Cassell (Robert), Scott Ray (Jane), Shari Ray Desseyn (Paul), Jason Gillespie (Quinn Ibach), Adam Gillespie (Angie), along with two stepsons Alan Gillespie (Fronie) & David Gillespie (Barbara). Her devotion to family extended to her 14 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, sister Terri Rush Schaefer (Terry), cousin Nancy Belk and best friend of 67 years Shirley Greene Setzer.

Linda was preceded in death by the love of her life, best friend and husband George Gillespie whom she missed dearly, mother Helen M Glenn (Joseph "Tip" Glenn), father Daniel "DJ" Rush (Ethel) and brother Ronny Rush.

In addition to her dedication to family, Linda was known for her wide circle of friends and interests. Her days and evenings were filled with shopping, outdoor music events, church activities, and lively games like LRC, Bunco, and Rummikub. A skilled tennis player and bowler, Linda found joy in staying active and engaged with those around her.
