Linda Thomas Hunter

March 12, 1939 — September 6, 2015

Remembering Linda Thomas Hunter Born March 12th 1939 Moved to Heaven on September 6th 2015 After suffering a very long and difficult illness, Linda finally found peace at 12:20 am on September 6th 2015. She was at Hospice in Novant Presbyterian Main and the care and love that surrounded her in that place was the sweetest place to be when she needed the care to keep her comfortable. They kept her as free of suffering as possible. She spent 8 days in that unit which meant that 8 days she fought so very hard to hang on to her life. She told us she did not want to say good bye to her family. That must be terribly hard for a lady who loved so much. She gave it her all, but that poor weak body just could not keep on. While there, we kept a constant vigil by her side and at times there were mighty prayers and beautiful music. There was always some kind of love in action in her room. It was a beautiful though a painful thing to experience, She had music all the time and flowers in her hair. She had her nails done and her toenails pretty. We had evening routines and she loved her back and neck rubbed and her feet as well. She got her wrist anointed with special oil her sweet niece had brought for her. I would tell her about how the wise men brought the same oil to baby Jesus because it was so valuable in that time. I would put it on her wrists and tell her that Jesus loved her so much, He wanted for her to breathe better and feel better. She did not understand that in feeling better that she might actually die and go to heaven to get a whole new body, but she would smile every night when I told her that Sandy gave her this special oil for her blessing. Mama had recommitted her life to Christ with her brother Jerry a few weeks before which was an answer to my very own prayer, I too had talked to her about Jesus being in her heart and she said for sure , He did, but her renewing her vows with her Father is such a joy. In her beautiful peaceful death as we held her hand, she closed those beautiful blue eyes and went to be with her maker. It was so peaceful . She awoke into eternity new and whole. Although we are all so fresh with tears, she is not because there is no sadness there , I kind of believe she is singing with heavens best singers and she is happy. She is blessed with a husband Thomas of 58 years of marriage. Her oldest daughter is Mrs.Lesa Hunter Elder married to Hugh William Elder for 38 years. They have 2 married daughters Mrs. Mandy Davis married to Mr. John Davis. Her youngest daughter Mrs. Chrissy Elder Lambert married to Mr. Paul Lambert. They have a precious angel daughter Graysie McAyden Elder. There are two sons that are the twins in this family, Mr. William Elder and Mr. Brian Elder. The next child is her son, Mr. Thomas Richard Hunter, Jr. (Rick) married to Mrs. Tess Hunter. They have a daughter, Mrs. Brittany Hunter Howell married to Mr. Sidney Howell. They have two precious girls named Sophie and Olivia Howell. They also have a son, Mr. Clayton Hunter married to Mrs. Lauren Hunter. They have a beautiful daughter named Abigail Hunter. They also have another set of twins in this family named Lucas Hunter and Lydia Hunter. The baby girl of the family is Ms. Lura Hunter McKegney. She has the next set of twins , Ms. Caneron McKegney and Ms. Ceara McKegney. She also has a son named Mr. Daniel McKegney. Mama has 3 sisters still living, Mrs, Nancy Short, Mrs. Peggy Cromer, and Mrs Sue Hooks. She has her brother, Mr. Jerry Thomas and he is married to Mrs. Nancy Thomas. The family from here spreads wide and wonderful and this family is filled with great love. Mr. Jenks James Thomas, Jr. her father and Mrs. Annie Louise Stillwell Thomas her mom began that wonderful legacy of compassion and love for the Lord and others. To be born into this family is such a special gift. To describe the many talents and blessings mom was seems endless, She was a wonderful wife, mother, sister, and friend. Her heart was so big that you mention you need it or want it, then you might just get it or she would give it to you right off her person for you. She loved her family so much and in the end, that was the hardest to let go of, it was not things or money, it was those she loved. Her talents include a voice of an angel. She was a singer in her younger days and recorded songs. She sang in many places. She loved to sew, do handworking, crochet, cook, decorate, write poems, songs and beautiful stories. She loved to read, go to the mountain cabin, spend time with family, and she sure loved her great grand daughter Graysie. It was always joy when she came to visit. You cannot leave out her love of animals, there was always a puppy or two living in the Hunter home and maybe a funny bird. Mom was an incredible lady and we all loved her so much and we will miss her in our lives more than words can say, but she is at her new home now and I cannot be happier for her. When she took that last labored breathe, she had no more suffering and Jesus took her hand and took her to that place He made just for her. Welcome Home Beautiful Lady -
