Lovingly referred to as “Gingah”, Margaret Chandler Tanner, 83, of Monroe, NC went to be with the Lord on October, 24, 2020. Margaret was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church where she attended the Ruth Bible Class. Born in Oconee County (SC) on August 23, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Milford T. and Gladys Towe Chandler. She moved to Monroe in 2005 after spending the majority of her adult life in Lexington, SC. Despite various obstacles, Margaret graduated in 1959 from the Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in Columbia, SC. Margaret loved the Lord Jesus Christ and had her family in church any time the doors were open. She was always a witness to her faith whether in work or in her everyday life. It was very important to her to ensure anyone she met knew the Lord. Margaret enjoyed reading and working in her garden. She always treated everyone with kindness, respect, and dignity. Her life motto was, “We walk by faith, not by sight.” (II Corinthians 5:7) So after many years of walking by faith, Margaret has now flown away to a land where joy shall never end.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Charles Moore Tanner. She is survived by her three children, David Tanner (Sandra), Anne Arp (Dean), and Lance Tanner (Sandy); her sisters, Leona Hinson and Della Keaton (Troy); 8 grandchildren, Marshall Tanner, Allison Tanner, Matthew Tanner, Emily Jordan (Myers), Caleb Arp (Taylor), Brie Tanner, Peyton Tanner, and Jackson Tanner; along with 3 great grandchildren, Emerson Lemox, Averi Tanner, and Emma Carleene Jordan.
