Margaret Reilley Ostrander, 95, a resident of Plantation Estates in Matthews, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly April 10, 2012. She leaves behind those who loved her the most, husband Roland J Ostrander, daughter and son-in-law, Roblyn King Potter and James H Potter of Ovid, NY, grandchildren, Lauralee Potter Dangerio (Glenn) of Santa Clarita, CA and Steffen Taylor Potter (Patricia) of Victor, NY, and 7 great grandchildren, William P Dangerio, Charles K Dangerio, Hope S Dangerio, Jackson T Potter, Daniel J Potter, Matthew G Potter and Katherine M Potter, stepchildren, Thomas Ostrander, ( Kelly) of Old Westbury, NY and John (Rosa) Ostrander of Matthews, NC, and step-great grandchildren, John, Elizabeth, Brian, Evan and Emily Ostrander. Margaret grew up in Paterson, NJ and was the daughter of Laura Legg Reilley and Raymond Reilley. She attended Alfred University and graduated in the class of 1938 with a BA degree in English and Latin. She taught school in Wolcott, NY where she met and married Walter P King from Trumansburg, NY. They moved many times during the next 50 years and finally moved from Williamsburg, Virginia, to Plantation Estates in 1989. Walter passed away in 2000 and she married Roland J Ostrander in 2003. She loved her life at Plantation Estates and all the many friendships she made there. She was a member of Matthews Presbyterian Church. She was highly admired and loved for all her various talents of which included her passion for music, painting, counted cross stitching, playing bridge, working in the library and volunteer work at Plantation and most of all knitting. She will be most remembered by the residents as the "Sweater Lady" and her constant smile and concern for others. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her name to Plantation Estates.Please refer to the column in the upper left of the obituary and select "Place A Donation" for further information. -
